Condensation (hydroxypropylation) with 2, 6-dimethylphenol and propylene oxide with the participation of sodium hydroxide to form (2, 6-dimethylphenoxy) isopropanol, and then oxidized with sulfuric acid-sodium dichromate to obtain (2, 6-dimethylphenoxy) acetone. The latter is condensed with hydroxylamine hydrochloride under reflux to obtain the product.
